What Inspires Me: Mummeh
Wednesday, November 05, 2014
1) I just feel like writing. I have few people in mind that I wanted to write. Then I decided I'll go first with - My mum. Because she CAN. Lols.
2) I want to practice to achieve-my-never-ever-coming-dreams-to be a writer. How can I, NOT? Geddit?
No. Lol.
So I have been thinking..
Mothers are the one everyone should respect;
1) Because childbirth is crazily pain. (I think. I heard). Apparently they cut your cervix for the baby head to slide out. Ew. OMG.
2) Because they raised you/us up.
(Which I don't think so when I'm young/immature). Cehh.
Sounds cliché much? Typical? No, but wait. I have MY or THE reasons. I'm not writing it just because my mum is MY MUM.
Well, she is a cancer patient. A 3rd stage of breast cancer with a super active cancer cells (I think its HER2). Apparently its the 2nd last stage before you faced death.
Me so slumber saying it, but..
She is one of THE strongest and MOST positive woman I've ever met. (I've never met many, probably).
1) Mastectomy. Every women loves their breast. Can you imagine your lives without it. I can't. (Maybe I am already. Lols)
2) Without fail. She didn't miss any of her treatment that she suppose to go through (7 sessions of Chemotherapy, 17 sessions of Herceptin, 15 times of Radiotherapy, and tons of medicine). I remembered once, she taking like 16 tablets, 1 shot straight.
Actually its pretty easy to miss your treatment (and just come back for another week) because;
- You tend to eat lesser not enough nutrients - cannot produce whatever that your body suppose to have.
- Depressed. Somehow it affects your body systems.
- Not enough cash. Because it's EXPENSIVE. In a private hospital, just 1 treatment/dose can cost you around RM 10k. It is THAT crazy.
- Your body immune system is weak -> Sick -> Blood count drop/whatever
Basically whatever can happen, for you NOT to get the treatment. Usually the procedure is; You have go through the 'check-up' (Which means sucking your blood every-single-time) - to make sure your body are healthy and are able to received the drugs/medication.
Its pretty terrifying to see some of the patients have to go back home without any treatment (because they got not enough blood count/sick/etc.), or some has to be hospitalised to receive like 4 pints of blood and a normal chemo, some of them looks like zombies. Somewhat frightening.
I heard people faint while receiving the treatment.
She's that strong to go through everything. From receiving the news to handling the money part to receiving the medication till now.
I cannot imagine myself going through it. Even the thoughts of needles gave me shivers!

3) Chemo port. Her chemo pot (To gain easy access to the vein) was inserted in her without any anaesthetic. Omgf! (Because apparently she has too much of drugs in her or something). I remembered she told us, that's the WORST ever pain she'd felt in her life - Because she literally feel the knife cutting into her flesh. Omg.
4) She barely lose any weight (maybe 1 or 2 kgs). All the patients or most that I saw at the oncologist department, was losing too much weight (because probably they did not eat-scare eat this the cancer cells spread more/pantang too much), my mum eats everything. Like literally. Lols.
5) Positive. Yes. She's the MOST positive person. Sometimes I think she's delusional. Lol. Anyway, obviously the first time she has the news that she had cancer. She cried. (Duh, who won't). As time goes, she pretty accept it and move on. She goes all the way, she encourages other patients, she make friends with the nurses and doctor (with her outgoing personality as usual), and eat whatever she could.
I don't think she could go through it, without herself. Her positive energy.

I am thankful, that my dad is with her all along. *winks*
After a year or more after the first time :)
Note: The above information(s), are scientifically not proven. It's part of my interpretation. And it can be read as Fiction (Cause I might write crap). Lols.
