Photo from the Internet
So I applied for Singapore Airline few months ago. When I got their reply, like finallayyyy, I was bloody excited! At first, I was just telling myself to go for it, Just For Fun. And so I did! A day before the interview, I went to Google on the potential questions during the interview. When I saw few blogpost, I'm like..why so crazy one? Why so many stage? So gan cheong. Lol
The interview was held at Plaza Central in KL.
On the day, I was wearing a casual body con dress match with heels. I was like SHIT. EVERYONE, literally EVERYONE was wearing formal/office wear. Why did I wear so casual! Double the gan cheong-ness. I was texting 10 people at the same time about my nervousness.
Anyway, I know you can't wait to know whether I got it or not right. Read till the end.
Before I get started, I just want to say that I didn't expect to make friends there. Malaysians there are really nice and cool with each other. Especially my group. We just chatted all the way while waiting for our turn.
#1stStage
We were divided into groups of 10. We were ask to describe ourselves and describe what is our favourite books. Other groups the had questions like, "What's your favourite colour and why?", "Which superpower would you like to have and why?", "Which is your favourite country?". To be honest, sadly, I believe this is when Beauty > Intelligence. You can see that people with disproportion face, obvious pigmentation, etc., are told to leave.
I manage to pass the 1st round. *Proudly flips hair Lol.
#2ndStage
The 2nd round is where it's the crucial one, I think. Most of the groups have 6 people in their team. We saw the the previous group only 1 manage to get through. 2 groups before us, NONE! Shit. My group got even nervous knowing the fact that possibly 1 or 0 of us could get through.
In the room, we were are given 1 minute to discuss and describe the friend beside us. Well, we are lucky we already did that when we were outside waiting for hours. It's pretty easy. The next challenge is where the interviewer split us into half and we have to come out with a point each on the debate question that was given to us. For my side I have to agree with that Intelligence > Beauty. We were given 1 minute to discuss the points that we want to bring it up. After that, 2 of us got picked to read a passage. They didn't pick me to read the passage, and so we were send out. Shit. This is hard man. They didn't ask me to read, for sure they won't pick me right?
After waiting for few minutes outside the room, they told us that 3 of us got through! Yay. Couldn't believe it.
I really don't know what are they looking for. I believe, it's the looks as well, maybe your pronunciation.
#3rdStage
3rd Stage. Brainy questions. Which what I'm good at. Lol. Kiddin'
We had 2 interviewer. Both of them are nice. 1 of the interviewer was quite harsh on me at the end. Seriously wtf. Luckily I was hardcore at that time trying to convince them why I should be there. Lol.
I was asked:
1) If there's only 1 spot left, convince us why you should be here in 3 minutes?
2) What is my weakness?
3) Why do I want to be a airline crew?
4) How can I add value to the company?
Kena bomb. I was quite confident. In fact over confident that I manage to convince them, I think. Lol.
More or less all of us got the same questions.
Duh. Obviously I pass. I was quite confident. Haha.
#4thStage
Where body, hands, leg checking for any tattoo, obvious birthmark, etc. AND WEIGHT. EASY. PEASY I thought.
I went up the weighing scale, it shows 37.7 kg. Wtf. I thought it's 38 kg. The lady was quite shock and tell me to go down and up again. Lol. Salah kot. Then I went up again. Same shit. I was like shit. I thought I'm gonna pass.
I mean this is shit easy man. Easy. Peasy.
Then she told me to wait, and I waited, and waited and waited. Think she went to consult my previous interviewer.
After much consideration, she told me I was way to underweight, blah blah., and told me I have to go back. Lol :(
I was quite sad at the beginning. Lol. I thought why didn't they do that weight thingy earlier. Not telling my about my damn weight problem after I've passed all my rounds. Lol. Damn drama.
Now I'm fine and more than happy to know that I have pass all the Stages (EXCEPT MY WEIGHT). I have to say, it's really really really REALLY tough to get into Singapore Airline. Really. Man.
Tips:
1) Practice talking perfect English.
2) Practice your confidence.
3) Practice your presentation-improptu skills.
